Football practice for the Hokies is set to begin today, August 5 at 3:15 as coach Beamer and company prepare for the 2005 season. Team practice will only be held in helmets and shorts, as players will not practice in full pads until Wednesday, August 10.
Tomorrow marks the team's 2005 Media Day. Members of the media will be treated to breakfast, listen to short speeches by Frank Beamer and each of his coaches, then proceed over to Lane Stadium to hold interviews with players. The Hokies will then hold their second practice of the year at 3:15.
As the month is set to continue, the team will also hold several two-a-day practices. The Hokies are scheduled to practice twice during Wednesday the 10th, Friday the 12th, Monday the 15th, Wednesday the 17th and Monday the 22nd.
Three official scrimmages are also in store for Beamer's squad in August. Tech will scrimmage on Saturday the 13th, Saturday the 20th, and Saturday the 27th, with each beginning at 3:15. There will also be a special scripted scrimmage on Sunday the 28th at 8pm.
